Our History

Nations Foundation grew from a civic initiative rooted in Afghanistan into a broader international effort focused on dignity, rights, accountability, and practical community support.

2015

Nation Social Assembly Begins

Hashmatullah Naebkhil co-founded the Nation Social Assembly with youth representatives from different provinces of Afghanistan. The initiative was created to promote and protect the civil and social rights of Afghan citizens, with particular attention to women and children.

2019

Public Accountability Experience Deepens

Mr. Naebkhil's public-sector work expanded through internal audit, governance, anti-corruption coordination, and institutional accountability. This experience helped shape the foundation's later emphasis on transparent, responsible, and rights-centered civic action.

2021

Civil Society Faces New Restrictions

Following the return of the Taliban and the restrictions placed on civil society organizations and independent social institutions, the original civic work faced a changed environment. The commitment to social advocacy continued, shaped by the urgent need to protect dignity, education, and civic participation.

Nations Foundation Is Re-Established

The organization was re-established with a new mandate and an expanded international scope under the name Nations Foundation. Its work now emphasizes broader international engagement, civil and social rights, and practical support for vulnerable communities.
